Llue is a red wine from the Umbrian winery Almaraminga born from Sagrantino grapes and native Umbrian red. Following is the sentence that is written on the bottle label.


Chi è che lu Pallio veste
e su noi tutti risplende,
stella del firmamento umbro?
Ma, ovvio, è llue!
Lu Santu Patrono.
Al suo celeste trono,
con sguardo commosso,
alziamo un terreno
e gagliardo vino rosso.

NAME: “Llue”, in Italian “lui”, the wine par excellence obtained with the grape variety typical of the area.
LOCATION: hills south-east of Spoleto with east exposure.
SYMBOL ON THE LABEL: “Lu Santu”, San Feliciano patron of Foligno. Born around 160 at “Forum Flaminii”, today San Giovanni Profiamma, a hamlet of Foligno, the patron Feliciano was the evangelizer of vast areas of present-day Umbria: from Foligno to Spello, Bevagna, Assisi, Perugia, Norcia, Plestia, Trevi , Spoleto. After a period in Rome he had returned to his homeland, where he had been acclaimed bishop.
NATURE: Red Wine.
GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Sagrantino.
SOIL TYPE: clayey sandy hills with a good presence of skeleton in the hills south of Bevagna with west exposure.
VINEYARD CHARACTERISTICS: planted in 1998, planting layout 2.80 x 1.20 m.
TRAINING SYSTEM: spurred cordon.
COLLECTION METHOD: manual in cassettes.
PERIOD: mid-October.
DESTEMMING: manual with the help of a wire mesh.
CRUSHING: traditional system of crushing with bare feet inside a vat for about 50% of the grapes, the remaining 50% is sent to fermentation intact.
PRESSING: very soft, carried out with a hydraulic press.
FERMENTATION: with spontaneous yeasts in closed exhausted barrique without temperature control.
MACERATION: 5 days with 2 manual punching down in total.
RACKING: separation from the skins of the draining wine only. The wine finishes fermentation without the skins.
AGING: Once the fermentation is finished the wine comes
racked and remains in steel for 6 months before being decanted in demijohn where it remains for 6 months until bottling.
BOTTLING: manual without clarification or filtration.
ADJUVANTS: no foreign product is added to the grape with the exception of a small amount of sulfur before bottling.
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS: at sight it has an intense red color and great consistency. It expresses aromas of blackberries and violets with hints of pepper. In the mouth the initial impact is of great power, the sip is full-bodied and caloric then the tannin, intense but not aggressive, intervenes
to rebalance the tactile perception and opens the way to fruity and spicy aftertaste sensations that linger for a long time.
