Podere San Biagio

The company is located in Controguerra, on the Teramo Hills, a border town between Abruzzo and Marche, 300 meters above sea level, a few kilometers as the crow flies from the Adriatic coast, but with the Gran Sasso and the Twin Mountains well in seen behind him.

The influence of the sea and the rigidity of the mountain currents create the ideal climate for the ripening of the typical grapes of their region: Trebbiano, Malvasia, Passerina and Pecorino, as well as of course the undisputed king of Abruzzo, Montepulciano.

The vines grow on clayey – limestone soil, the company has been organically run since the early 1980s, when the main activity was the cultivation of ancient cereals and olive groves. In 1994 the Agriturismo was also born, in 2000 the cellar was built and the first bottles began to be produced, as well as the purchase of an oil mill and a small mill to directly transform all agricultural production independently.

Since 2014 Jacopo, now in his thirties, has been returning home and concentrating on the cultivation of the vineyard and the refinement of cellar practices, with the aim of improving the general quality through an increasingly natural approach.

Today all wines are spontaneously fermented, they are neither filtered nor clarified, only a slight addition of sulphites to the bottling. The search for purity and elegance, as well as the freshness of the fruit and the drink in the base line, of depth and structure for the most important line, distinguish Jacopo’s research.
